Moldovan parliament speaker, MPs commemorate memory of Ruler Stephen the Great and Holy

Chisinau, 2 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and MPs from various parliamentary factions laid flowers at the monument to Stephen the Great and Holy today morning, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The ceremony commemorated the memory of the 517 years since the passing away of Ruler Stephen the Great and Holy.
The parliament speaker said that the society would be able to maintain alive the memory of the greatest defender of the nation only through the studying and knowledge of the history, by preserving alive the memory and the glorious past.
At the same time, Zinaida Greceanii urged the young generations to study the life of the Great Ruler, to know his deeds and the courage and energy of Stephen the Great and Holy inspire them for nice things for the Motherland.
Stephen the Great was ruler of Moldova during 1457-1504. Stephen the Great waged 36 wars and built 44 monasteries. He died on 2 July 1504 and was buried at the Putna Monastery.
