Moldovan president meets citizens from southern region

Chisinau, 3 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 2 July paid a working visit to Moldova’s southern region. In Taraclia, the head of state met the town’s residents, mayors and headmasters of education institutions, physicians from the district hospital and local entrepreneurs, the presidential press service has reported.
„We discussed a lot of issues of the national and local nature and agreed on the fact that we must work together, in order to edify a just, united and inclusive society, where each person feels useful and has chances of self-assertion,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The next destination of the Moldovan president was Ceadar-Lunga, where she had a meeting with the association of mayors from the Gagauz Autonomy. The head of state discussed with the local authorities the pressing needs of the settlements which the association members are leading – fair financing of local public authorities, supplying resources for costly projects (water and sewerage, waste management, roads’ repair), backing initiating on creating jobs.
„The mayors said that, to solve these problems, they need the support of the central public administration. In the context, I voiced confidence that the things can be improved once we have a new parliament, focused on the country’s interests, as well as a just and professional government. With joint efforts, we can give people back the confidence in their country,’’ President Maia Sandu stressed.
