Moldovan Finance Ministry, Centru Regional Development Agency sign additional agreement for financing aqueduct in central region

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Finance Ministry has signed an additional agreement on the implementation with the Centru Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru) for the project, Improvement of water infrastructure in Central Moldova, phase II.     

The document was signed in line with the provisions of the additional agreement on financing and the Agreement on Grant, signed between the German bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), Moldova and ADR Centru on 12 January 2021.

The Finance Ministry, in its capacity of recipient on behalf of Moldova, will make available to ADR Centru the sum of the additional financial contribution for the implementation of the project worth ten million euros.    

The goal of the project, Improvement of water infrastructure in Central Moldova, phase II, is to improve the residents’ living conditions through minimizing the risks for health and efficient use of natural resources through the development/ extension of water supply services in five rural settlements and their connection to the Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi aqueduct. The agreement also sees providing of consultancy services to ADR Centru, as well as expertise services for backing water operators in the Straseni and Calarasi districts in extending the supply area and in the process of reorganization.    
 
Through this additional financing, the project’s overall budget reaches 25 million euros – non-refundable assistance provided by the German government within the bilateral operation through the Agreement between the governments of Moldova and Germany on financial cooperation for the period 2019-2020, signed based on a Decision by the cabinet of ministers from August 2020.
