Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - A referendum on the dismissal from office of the mayor of the Dancu village, central Hancesti district, will not take place.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) took note of a ruling by the Chisinau Court of Appeal from 24 June 2021 and, at a today’s meeting, ruled to cancel the earlier adopted decisions on the organization and holding of a local referendum on the dismissal of the mayor from the Dancu village, established for 11 July 2021.
The central electoral authorities’ decision comes after the Supreme Court of Justice has declared inadmissible the mayor’s appeal on the cancellation of the CEC’s decision, under which the carrying out of a referendum for his dismissal from office was established for 11 July, given that the decisions by the Dancu local council on the holding of the plebiscite had been earlier cancelled in court.
The mayor of the Dancu settlement, Hancesti district, Vladimir Pretuleac, has been holding this position since 2007, being elected to this office for the fourth time.
