Moldovan acting PM has meeting with members of European Parliament's mission of observers

Chisinau, 9 July /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today afternoon received the members of the European Parliament’s mission for observation of the snap parliamentary elections due in Moldova, led by Chair of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Attending the meeting were MPs of the European Parliament Viola Von Cramon-Taubadel and Cristian-Vasile Terheș, accompanied by Head of the European Union’s Delegation in Chisinau Peter Michalko.
The discussions were focused, as priority, on the preparations for the snap parliamentary elections, due in less than 48 hours. The acting PM said that the state’s institutions had done their utmost for the ballot to be held in full accordance with the democratic standards and each citizen has possibility to vote, no matter the place on the map where he/she is.
„The state must ensure the right to vote for all citizens, no matter their place of residence in Moldova or abroad. I hope that, immediately after the elections, Moldova will quickly resume the way of modernization and will make concrete steps in the implementation of the reforms necessary for the country,’’ Aureliu Ciocoi stressed.
The European officials accredited to monitor the 11 July ballot expressed confidence that the electoral exercise would be transparent, correct and fair.
The acting prime minister expressed gratitude to the European Parliament’s representatives for the support provided to Moldova by European states and institutions during time, especially on the pandemic period.
