Presidents of Moldova, Ireland discuss priorities of Moldovan citizens living in Ireland

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu discussed with President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins today, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state thanked his Irish counterpart for the congratulations conveyed to Moldova’s citizens on the historical vote from 11 July, as well as for the assistance provided for the good carrying out of the voting procedure for the Moldovan Diaspora from Ireland. ‘’I noted, in the context, that the close relations existing between our countries are due including to the community of Moldovan citizens who live in Ireland,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
Proceeding inclusively from the interests of this community, the two heads of state together reviewed the priorities of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Among them, there are the resumption of discussions on important draft agreements, such as the recognition and conversion of driver’s licences and graduation diplomas, facilitation of the visa regime with Ireland, mutual promotion and protection of investments, cooperation in the tourism sector and cultural cooperation.
Also, Presidents Maia Sandu and Michael D. Higgins discussed possibility of extending the services of the Irish low-cost air companies in Moldova.
