Three men to be tried on charges of blackmail in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prosecutors and officers of the Criminal Prosecution General Department at the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS) have detained three men suspected of blackmail. They were caught in Chisinau, just when they were committing the offence and claimed from the victim 10,000 euros for an invented debt.

According to PCCOCS, the three men were detained for 72 hours, in order to avoid their eluding the criminal prosecution.

Law-enforcers say that the three perpetrators claimed from the victim the sum of 10,000 euros for an invented debt; afterwards, they maltreated him and gave a term for the fulfillment of the ‘’debt’’.

The suspects have ages between 27 and 53 years and are in the records of law-enforcers with similar antecedents. If found guilty, they run the risk of being sentenced to up to 7 years of imprisonment and getting a fine worth 67,500 lei.
