Moldovan parliament speaker thanks heads of national, international parliamentary institutions for participation in elections' monitoring

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii has conveyed more messages of thanks to the heads of the parliamentary and inter-parliamentary institutions, which delegated missions for monitoring the snap parliamentary elections in Moldova on 11 July 2021, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Messages were sent to Chairwoman of the Council of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Chairwoman of Russia’s Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, President of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rik Daems, Secretary General of the Black See Cooperation Parliamentary Assembly Asaf Hajiyev, Marshall of Poland’s Senate Tomasz Grodzki; Marshal of Poland’s Sejm Elżbieta Witek, as well as Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Matteo Mecacci.
The speaker expressed firm confidence that the presence of the teams of international observers at the snap parliamentary elections had played an important role in enhancing the voters’ confidence and in the assessing of the lawfulness of the electoral process.
”The international election observation missions represent a fundamental element in the free and transparent expressing of the citizens’ will, as well as of the expressing of the principle of objectiveness and correctness, in accordance with the international standards for democratic and transparent elections,’’ the messages read.
Zinaida Greceanii voiced confidence that the exchanges of knowledge, experience and good practices in electoral matters fully contributed to the promotion of the fundamental democratic values and observance of the international electoral standards.
