U.S. Ambassador to Moldova awarded with Order of Honour

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today received Ambassador of the United States to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan, along with the deputy head of the U.S. diplomatic mission, Laura Hruby, the head of the Political and Economic Section, Mary Alexander and Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Scott Hocklander, the presidential press service has reported.
„I thanked for the support of the USA in the fight with the pandemic and in providing our country with vaccine, for the assistance programmes in the field of economic development and infrastructure and for help in strengthening the state’s institutions and the independent media,’’ the head of state said.
At the meeting, the sides discussed the revival of the bilateral relations in the context of the Moldovan-American high-level Strategic Dialogue. In the context, the officials tackled subjects on the consolidation of the rule of law state, combating corruption and justice reformation, as well as on the economy’s digitalization.
Also today, President Maia Sandu awarded the Order of Honour to Dereck J. Hogan, on the occasion of the end of his mandate in Moldova, as a token of appreciation and gratitude for his work and for the support of Moldova’s efforts to edify a democratic and prosperous society.
„I thanked Mr. Ambassador for his contribution in the promotion of the democratic transformations in our country and support provided, along with his team, to the people who fought for a free and just society,’’ Maia Sandu stressed.
