Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the State Administration of Roads (ASD), following a meeting with the entrepreneur, have established the stage of carrying out the works for the restoration of a road segment with a length of 6.5 km of the Chisinau municipality’s belt road. The sides found out that the project had been implemented at a level of over 55 per cent.
The project on the rehabilitation of the belt road’s segment, with four lanes, sees the reconstruction of the current road system, setting of about 90 road signs, construction of two crossroads with rotary motion, rehabilitation of five small bridges and the construction of five new small bridges.
„The segment of the M2 belt road is placed at about 10 km west of Chisinau. The project’s goal is to reduce the flow of high-tonnage transport, which presently transits the built-up area of the city, reduce the traffic jams, ensure the road traffic, as well as diminish the air pollution in the city,’’ the ASD acting director, Veaceslav Potop, said.
The works for the restoration of the road segment are to be completed by late 2021. To implement this project, the European Investment Bank provided the Moldovan government with a loan worth over 9.9 million euros.
