Decision on short food chain published in Moldova's Official Journal

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) from today published a government decision establishing a new list of food products coming from the short food chain, which are to be displayed at a level of at least 50 per cent of the linear length of the commercial shelf.
The list completed and updated contains 129 tariff positions: fresh and tinned fruits and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, honey, grocer’s goods, fresh and processed meat, bakery and confectioner’s products, non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, congealed products, etc. At the same time, the list of products contains a section, ‘’recommended period’’, which refers to the season fruits and vegetables, being an orientation benchmark.
The list of products was identified based on the requests by the business environment, specialized associations, as well as according to the criterion of production with the full providing of the domestic market’s needs.
„Providing access to the native products on the shelves of trade units will stimulate their turning to account with the registration of incomes, which implies also the increase in the income sources both to the local budgets and the national one. Thus, the development of marketing in the small and medium-sized enterprises will be enhanced, the sound competition will develop, based on principles of ensuring the quality, inoffensiveness, as well as on establishing the product’s commercial look,’’ the document reads.
Depending on the species and variety, the trader will show, in the contract with the agricultural producer (provider), the concrete period, periodicity, quantity for the delivery of the product, as well as other aspects dealing with the bilateral commercial relations. As for the products for which the concerned period is not indicated, they are to be sold during the entire year.
The National Food Safety Agency will have the task to exercise the control over the enforcement of this decision.
