Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Environment Agency has recorded the lack of essential exceedings of the maximally admissible concentrations of pollutants in the atmospheric air in Moldova, in the wake of a 22 July blast at a chemical plant in the Rivne city of Ukraine.
The laboratory for the air’s quality daily caries out the activity of collecting and analysis of samples of atmospheric air at six stationary posts of observations from the Chisinau municipality, based on eight indicators and at two posts in the Balti municipality, based on six indicators.
„Thus, on 19-22 July 2021, no essential exceedings of the maximally admissible concentrations of pollutants in the atmospheric air in Chisinau and Balti were identified. The instable weather, the influence of a cold atmospheric front, variation of air masses, short thunderstorm rains and gustings of the wind in places up to 18 metres/second contributed to the dispersion of pollutants in the air,’’ reads a communiqué of the institution.
On 22 July, a blast occurred at a chemical plant from Rivne city of Ukraine. In the wake of the explosion, a big cloud of orange smog was visible on the sky and particles of nitrogen oxide reached the air. Specialists say that, for this reason, acid precipitation is possible. At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities recommended that the citizens go outdoors with umbrellas.
