Competent authorities take census of motor transport at road knot nearby Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ - The State Administration of Roads (ASD), jointly with designing companies, has carried out a census of the motor transport, which crosses the road knot between the road M1 road, Border with Romania – Leuseni – Chisinau – Dubasari – Border with Ukraine, M5 road, Border with Ukraine – Criva – Balti – Chisinau – Tiraspol – Border with Ukraine and R6 Chisinau – Orhei – Balti. The results establish a daily average of traffic intensity of 76,797 vehicles on the road segments of the road knot at the intersection of the M1, M5 and R6 roads.      

According to ASD, the road traffic will increase to 182,005 vehicles per day by 2043. ‘’According to statistics data got, the dimensioning of the road recommended, proceeding from the future traffic, provides for the doubling of the number of traffic lanes from two to four and one acceleration – deceleration lane per one direction, for the segment of the M1 road, placed under the bridge on the road M5 and the segment situated under the bridge placed on the R6 road. Also, the doubling of the lanes from four to eight and by one acceleration- deceleration lane per one direction for the segment of R6 road, in the region of the crossing bridge,’’ the institution says.   

The study, elaborated based on the data got at the census, sets the ways of development and modernization of the road knot, for the easing of the traffic in the region and enhancing the transport units’ capacity to cross the bridges.
