Well-known Moldovan writer marks 70th birthday anniversary

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Writer Ianos Turcanu marks his 70th birthday anniversary.
Ianos Turcanu was born in the Pelinia village, northern Rascani district, in 1951. He finished the Balti-based Medicine College in 1970, the Medicine Institute from Krasnodar, Russia, in 1976 and the M. Gorki Literature Institute from Moscow in 1980. Turcanu worked at the centre for education and special training of pilots and cosmonauts from the Sochi city, Russia, (1976-1980). In 1992, the writer returned to Moldova and was employed at the Culture Department of the Chisinau city hall.
He debuted with a volume of poems for children in 1993, followed by another book in 1994, which was awarded the Prize of the International Book Salon from 1995.
Ianos Turcanu was awarded prizes, diplomas and medals at diverse literary contests from Moldova and Romania. In 2010, he was awarded the Mihai Eminescu medal.
