Moldovan sportsman becomes world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - A Moldovan sportsman, Alexandru Solovei, became world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, cadets category, in Budapest on 25 July.
The Moldovan Wrestling Federation informed that Alexandru Solovei had defeated a wrestler from Iran, Alireza Morad Abdevali (2-1) and won the title of world champion in the cadets’ category.
President Maia Sandu congratulated the Moldovan sportsman on social networks. ‘’A good news has come from Budapest, where the Cadet World Championship in wrestling is held. On 25 July evening, Moldovan sportsman Alexandru Solovei became world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling (category of 71 kg). Dear Alexandru, congratulations and good success in continuation! Your victory is the proof of the fact that the work is rewarded. Your example will inspire other young people to take part in sports competitions and bear with dignity the name of the country in the world. We thank him for effort, perseverance and for the joy to be proud of Moldova,’’ Maia Sandu wrote.
Alexandru Solovei has earlier won the title of European champion in the category of cadets.
