Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovans resorted to embassies for the processing of more than 16,000 passports, over 5,000 identity cards and over 8,000 of travel documents in the first half of this year. Thus, to diminish the virtual queues of waiting for schedulings from the most demanded destinations, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) informed that it considered ways of supply with additional consular staff, as well as the reorganization of the consular network.
According to data by MAEIE, on 1 January – 30 June, 67,623 consular actions were processed through Moldova’s embassies and consular offices from abroad. This is more against the years before, with the most demanded missions being the ones from Padua, Milan, Rome, Moscow, Paris and Frankfurt.
“Against the background of increase in the number of Moldova’s citizens from abroad and diversification of the consular problems, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry responded to the wishes of Moldovan citizens, by making available of information about the often demanded consular services efficiently and transparently on the embassies’ official web pages,’’ reads a MAEIE press release.
Also, Foreign Affairs Ministry’s decision-makers says that Moldovans can interact by email with the staff in charge of the consular services and depending on the type of the service demanded, send documents by electronic means or courier, without having to repeatedly go to the consulate, thus removing all bureaucratic and geographic obstacles.
