This year issue of Gagauz carpet's festival to be held with visitors' presence

Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - The traditional festival of the Gagauz carpet will be held with presence of audience in 2021 on 7 August, in the Gaidar village, Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) Gagauz-Yeri. Authorities inform about cultural and artistic programmes, contests, master-classes, etc. for this event. Visitors will be able to learn about the art of carpets from each settlement of the region.

„In the last year, because of the pandemic, we gave up the holding of the festival in traditional format; yet, this year, we will return to the initial form. We have already announced the contest for the most beautiful carpet, which will be organized in four sections. The winners of the four nominations will receive a prize worth 3,000 lei each,’’ the head of the department for culture and tourism of UTA Gagauz-Yeri, Marina Semionova, told to the website www.gagauzinfo.md.

The last festival of the Gagauz carpet with the presence of audience took place in 2019, when a carpet weaved by a woman from Ceadar-Lunga in 1915 was awarded the Prize One.

The festival was launched in 2013.
