Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Swiss company Schoeni invests 1.5 million euros in the construction of a factory for processing fruits and vegetables, with an area of 2,000 square metres, in the south-eastern Stefan Voda district. For this, Schoeni registered an enterprise in the Balti Free Economic Zone (FEZ Balti) (Stefan Voda subzone).
“At the first stage, 30 jobs were created at the enterprise with full automated system. The average salary is 12,000 lei. The business plan sees that, in the first year of work, the production volume will amount to 18 million lei (about one million dollars). In the long run, the production capacities and areas will be extended up to 10,000 square metres, with the respective increase in the volume of investments and the number of jobs. Being resident of the Balti FEZ, the company will export the entire production volume to Switzerland and European Union countries,’’ FEZ Balti said.
The manager of the Balti Free Economic Zone, Marin Ciobanu, said that the uniqueness of the new resident of FEZ Balti consisted not only in the fact that it is the first company from Switzerland, but also in the fact that an investor from a new sector – processing of agricultural production – had come to the region. ‘’This fact means that agricultural producers from southern Moldova will have a reliable buyer, being sure of the production’s sale and extension,’’ Ciobanu said.
For his part, the manager of the Swiss enterprise, Vitalie Pintilie, said that ‘’for the first time in its one-century-old history, Schoeni Food ruled to develop the fabrication of food products from fruits and vegetables outside Switzerland.’’ ‘’We are happy that their choice was Moldova. The success from the project in Stefan Voda will become a gate for new investors from this country, providing decently paid jobs, strengthening the country’s economy and improving the living standards,’’ Pintilie noted.
Presently, works of creating the engineering networks take place in the Stefan Voda subzone of FEZ Balti; the platform is prepared for the factory’s construction. It is planned to be inaugurated in the beginning of the next agricultural season, in May-July 2022.
