Moldovan historian marks 85th birthday anniversary

Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - University professor, PhD in history, corresponding member of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (ASM) Demir Dragnev marks his 85th birthday anniversary today.
Demir Dragnev was born in the Curesnita village, Commune Holosnita, Soroca county (presently Soroca district) on 27 July 1936 in a family of peasants. As of 1952 till 1957, he studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of the Chisinau-based State University. He worked at the History Institute of ASM. At the Academy, he acted as lower scientific employee and then became aspirant of the Post-graduate Studentship of the Moldovan Soviet Republic (RSSM) (1962-65)
He got involved in the elaboration of textbooks for lyceum and gymnasium.
In 2010, Dragnev was member of the commission for the studying and assessing the totalitarian communist regime in Moldova, set up under presidential decree. He was awarded more orders, medal, diplomas. In the same year, he was awarded the honorific titles of the honorary citizen of the Soroca city and the one of merited man.
