Moldova marks 27th anniversary of Constitution

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The 27th anniversary of Moldova’s Constitution is marked today.  

On this occasion, President of the Constitutional Court Domnica Manole conveyed a message, which reads that the Constitution’s adoption had been the result of historical circumstances and implied the assessment of the general desiderata of Moldova’s society of that time.   

„The then society opted for the consolidation of the rule of law state, for the guaranteeing of the human dignity, for the protection of the fundamental rights and for the strengthening of the democracy. The option of the constitutional provisions fundamentally influences the present social order. The rulings of the Constitutional Court pronounced during time are added to the page written by the constituent assembly at that time. They are part of the Constitution and are inseparable from it,’’ the message reads.     

„On this day, I want to get to be able to say, without reservation, that in Moldova, a democratic state based on the preeminence of the law, the fundamental rights are guaranteed efficiently by its authorities, just as the Constitution lays down,’’ the message by Domnica Manole also reads.    

Moldova’s Constitution Day is annually marked on 29 July. The Fundamental Law was adopted on 29 July 1994 and entered into force on 27 August 1994.
