Drivers from left bank of Dniester have one month at disposal for changing registration plates on vehicles

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - Only transport means from the Transnistrian region which have registration plates of Moldova or neutral-type plates, accompanied by the ellipse MD, put on the back of the vehicle, will have access to the international road traffic starting from 1 September 2021, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
As for the neutral models, decision-makers provided a complementary option and adapted to the specific character of the situation in the Transnistrian region, in order to allow the registration of a larger number of vehicles driven by the categories of beneficiaries enumerated in the Article I, point 3 of the Law No 170/2018, with the providing of the concerned services, beginning with 1 September 2018 at the subdivisions of registration of transport means from Tiraspol and Rabnita. At the same time, due to the starting of the information campaign at the crossing of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border, decision-makers stimulated the process of documentation of the vehicles with neutral registration numbers starting from 25 January 2021.
Thus, according to data from the state register of transports, 184 vehicles were registered with neutral plates at the subdivisions from the Tiraspol and Rabnita cities on the period 01-24 July 2021.
Also, an active increase in the number of applications for the change of driver’s licences has been recorded. The same data from the state register of drivers shows that, while in 2020, there were 157 changed driver’s licences, on the period 01-24 July 2021, their number doubled – 322 driver’s licences.
As for the situation regarding the crossing of the state border by transports means with registration numbers issued in the Transnistrian region, 230 crossings were recorded on the period 01-20 July 2021. At the same time, there are more crossings by transport means with neutral registration numbers during 20 days – 01-20 July 2021 – 263 crossings, according to data provided by Moldova’s Border Police.
According to the issues on which competent authorities from Moldova and Ukraine agreed, starting from 1 September 2021, the access to the international road traffic across the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border will be allowed only to the transport means registered under the general instructions of Moldova’s legislation, in line with the requirements stipulated in the provisions of the Law No 170/2018 and the Government Decision No 847/2018 and with the observance of the rigours stipulated in the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic from 8 November 1968.
