Igor Grosu elected Moldova's parliament speaker

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Igor Grosu, today was elected as speaker of the parliament of the 11th legislative period with the secret vote of 64 MPs.

The faction of the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists did not participate in the voting procedure.

Igor Grosu was born in the Andrusul de Sus village, southern Cahul district, on 30 November 1972. He graduated from the Moldovan State University and has degree in history.

During 15 August 2012 - 12 August 2015, he held the office of deputy education minister.

Starting from 15 May 2016, he has been PAS member and in 2019, Grosu was elected MP on the national list of the electoral bloc ACUM Dignity and Truth Platform and PAS.

In the parliament of the tenth legislative period, Igor Grosu acted as head of the PAS faction, ACUM Bloc, deputy head of the parliamentary commission for national security, defence and public order, head of the delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, author and co-author of over 50 draft legislative initiatives.

Grosu ran for the 11 July 2021 snap parliamentary elections on behalf of the Action and Solidarity Party Political Party and was No 1 on the list.

Igor Grosu is married and has three children.
