Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 29 July afternoon participated in a discussion dedicated to Moldova, organized by the German Marshall Fund from the USA, along with congressman, co-chairman of the Group of Moldova’s friends in the American Congress David Price and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent, the presidential press service has reported.
„I thanked the participants for the interest in Moldova and for the openness to support us at this beginning of the way. I informed them about the reforms the new government is to carry out and the country’s short- and medium-term priorities,’’ Maia Sandu said.
At the discussion, the head of state said that Moldova was at a historical moment for its further development and that the country must turn to good account this period. ‘’The combating of the endemic corruption, the reform of justice and of the prosecutor’s office, ensuring the integrity in the public sector, as well as the re-launch of the economy, revising the agrarian and environmental policies, modernization of the health and education sectors – all need quick and resolute actions,’’ the Moldovan president said.
Maia Sandu stressed that the agenda was complex and ambitious; yet, the support of the development partners, including of the United States, which has been one of Moldova’s strategic partners for 29 years, would be really helpful.
