Another 150,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine reached Chisinau

Chisinau, 2 August /MOLDPRES/- Another 150,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, produced in the USA and delivered through the COVAX platform, arrived today in Chisinau.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, to date in our country have arrived 301,200 doses of Johnson & Johnson, out of the 500,000 planned doses. The serum is to be distributed proportionally at all vaccination points.

"We notice a high demand for Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the Republic of Moldova. According to the data, about 59 thousand people have already been immunized with this vaccine. Today, our country has vaccines of different types, all of them being safe and effective ", MSMPS State Secretary Tatiana Zatîc said.

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is produced by the American pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, is administered intramuscularly with a single dose and is recommended for people aged at least 18 years. Following clinical trials, an efficacy of 66.3% was found against all forms of the disease and 100% against hospitalization caused by COVID-19. To date, more than 20 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered worldwide.
