Gagauzia governor meets Swedish envoy

Chisinau, 3 August /MOLDPRES/- Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah met yesterday with Anna Liberg, Sweden's Ambassador to Moldova. During the meeting, the Bashkan thanked the Stockholm Government for assistance to autonomy in various dimensions, including financial support in the construction of the IT Digital Hub.
Vlah expressed the interest of the regional authorities in attracting the experience needed in the process of preparing an International Conference on the Construction and Development of Autonomy, which will be held under the auspices of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities.
"Sweden's involvement in supporting the development of the Republic of Moldova and Gagauzia is very important for us, especially now, when we have to overcome such phenomena as youth migration. Progress in our priority areas such as industrialization, IT sector development, fighting the effects of drought and creating infrastructure for waste collection and sorting depends largely on the support of development partners. We are ready to learn intensively," said Irina Vlah.
At the same time, Irina Vlah awarded Anna Liberg the title of Honorary Citizen of Gagauzia for fruitful diplomatic activity, high professionalism, assistance in developing and consolidating friendly relations between the Kingdom of Sweden and the Republic of Moldova, especially with Gagauzia.
