Moldovan writer passed away

Chisinau, 5 August /MOLDPRES/- Poet, prose writer and playwright Andrei Strâmbeanu, winner of the National Prize of the Republic of Moldova and of the I. L. Caragiale for dramaturgy of the Romanian Academy, holder of the Order of the Republic passed away last night at the age of 86.
In 1998-2001 he was a deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
Andrei Strâmbeanu was awarded the Mihai Eminescu medal (1997), the Order of the Republic (2011), the National Prize of the Republic of Moldova and I. L. Caragiale for dramaturgy of the Romanian Academy (2008). In 1979, 1981, 2001, 2002 and 2004 he became the winner of the National Drama Competition.
His plays have been staged in theaters in Moldova and Germany. His creation has been translated into several foreign languages. As an author of lyrics, he collaborated with the composers Mihai Dolgan, Constantin Rusnac, Eugen Doga, Valentin Dânga and others.
