Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/- A group of organic farmers in our country have exported spelled peeled seeds to Israel, certified according to the requirements of Israeli kosher cuisine, ie that respects Jewish religious laws.
According to Spartac Chilat, co-founder of the Employers' Association Alliance of the Value Chain in Organic Agriculture in Moldova (MOVCA) and Prograin Organic, kosher certification consisted of supervision by the buyer's inspectors of all processes, from harvesting, transportation, processing , storage and up to loading and export.
The advantages offered by this export are that the Israeli market does not provide double certification, as in the case of the European Union, and the price is about 10% higher than that offered by buyers in the European community, said Spartac Chilat.
Prograin Organic cultivated in 2021 through its partnership with about 40 farmers an area of about 1500 hectares of spelled, and the average yield obtained per hectare is 3.5-4 tons. From this year's finished production, 2000-2500 tons will be exported to the markets of Israel, Norway, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and France.
The bakery crops for kosher cuisine, also requested by consumers of organic products, include rye, einkorn also known as polba or alac (triticum monococcum), as well as emmer (triticum dicoccum). Prograin Organic has grown 250 tons of einkorn and 1000 tons of rye this year, and by 2022 it plans to sow emmer.
