Several localities disconnected from power

Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/- Heavy rainfall with electrical discharges and strong winds at night and in the morning today caused numerous falls of trees and branches over the overhead power lines, causing breakage of conductors and damage to equipment resulting in damaged interruption of energy supply to consumers served by center and south of the country, including the suburbs of Chisinau, Premier Energy has reported.

According to the company, the most affected districts are Cimișlia, Hâncești, Criuleni, Nisporeni, Telenești, Ialoveni, Causeni, Anenii Noi, Comrat, Cahul and Leova. "Thus, according to the operative situation from 9:00 on August 6, electricity is partially or totally missing in 43 localities", announces Premier Energy.

For the operative development of the service restoration works, several mobile teams were activated to restore the supply of power to consumers.

“Avoid and do not touch electrical conductors that have been damaged or accidentally hung from poles and trees; do not intervene in electrical installations, as there is a danger of electric shock; do not leave children unattended, carefully check their location in terms of electrical safety; supervise children and explain electrical safety rules; ask them to immediately inform an adult of any suspicious conductor to pass on that information to the electricity distribution operator or if they are mature enough to do so with maximum responsibility, providing the 24-hour telephone service with all required data, including the contact ones. The distribution operator should be informed about any incident as a matter of urgency by calling the 24h Service - 022 43 11 11 ”, the quoted source states.

At the same time, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations announces that rescuers intervened to release the routes blocked by trees felled by strong wind gusts in Corjeuți and Criva, Briceni, Viișoara and Alexăndreni districts, Edineț district. Such missions were carried out in Dondușeni district, Ariorești locality, as well as on the detour route of Dondușeni city. Rescuers also removed a fallen tree on a house in Cneazevca village, Leova district.
