High statistics on spread of COVID-19 in Chisinau

Chisinau, 13 August /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban conveyed a message to residents of the capital in the context of the possible emergence of a new pandemic wave through COVID-19. Thus, the mayor asked urgent vaccination of teachers, in order to start safely and with the physical presence of the new year of studies.
Ceban said that statistical data show an increase in new daily cases of coronavirus and that, currently, the municipality has a vaccination rate of about 29% (nationally - about 19%). "Things cannot move in the right direction, as long as we do not have major vaccine coverage in the community," the official said.
He said that according to medical experts, it is possible to establish the alert of the Orange Code of Emergency in Public Health in Chisinau. "The municipal health system is ready to gradually reactivate the COVID-19 strategic hospitals, including intensive care units and resuscitation," the source said.
The mayor noted "anti-COVID vaccination is an essential necessity for all, for health and avoidance of deaths due to complications", and reiterated the call for compliance with public health rules: mandatory wearing a protective mask in all enclosed spaces, in stores , in public transport, at waiting stations and at events with human congestion.
