Chisinau, 16 August /MOLDPRES/- Number of coronavirus cases has increased in Chisinau. 103 patients are currently hospitalized at the COVID-19 Center at MoldExpo.
Boris Gâlcă, acting head of the Health and Social Assistance Department of the Chisinau city hall said at today's online meeting of the municipality's services that the number of coronavirus cases is increasing in the capital. "103 people are hospitalized at the COVID-19 Center at MoldExpo, ten of whom are in intensive care," said Gâlcă.
At the same time, Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban asked residents to get vaccinated, warning that "the next wave of coronavirus will be that of unvaccinated people." Ceban said that although the vaccination rate of the capital's inhabitants is high, about 30 percent, it is not enough to create mass vaccination.
"Compared to the data recorded in the country, Chisinau is the leader in vaccination - 30 percent of residents received the serum, but this figure is not enough to create mass immunization naturally. This requires that 70 percent of the population be vaccinated. I request the increase of the efforts of the municipal services for vaccination of the inhabitants ", he said.
Also, the mayor requested to convene this week extraordinary public health meeting of Chisinau municipality to assess the health situation, given increasing coronavirus cases.
