Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- The Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA) started yesterday to receive applications for direct payments worth over five million lei, support offered to animal breeders from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development . Thus, AIPA met commitment to speed up the process of authorizing direct payments per animal.
"Given that the livestock sector was severely affected by the drought last summer, agricultural producers are counting on state aid, which would solve some of the problems faced by livestock farmers," says AIPA.
Following the discussions, organized a week ago by AIPA in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the representatives of the profile associations in the livestock sector intervened with the request that, in the process of examining applications, the deadline per stage be reduced and payments to begin in the second half of August. Thus, on August 16, the first files for payment have already been authorized.
The direct payment per head of animal is granted only once a year, for the owners of cattle, sheep, goats. Animals registered and exploited in zootechnical farms located outside the built-up area are liable to direct payment.
Following the first call, AIPA received 416 applications for direct payments per head, of which 197 for bovine keepers, 128 for sheep and 91 for goat keepers. 322 pet owners will benefit from direct payments per animal.
