Moldovan, Latvian officials address justice reform, bilateral relations

Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- Intensification of Moldovan-Latvian relations in the regional development, agriculture and justice was discussed at today's meeting between Speaker Igor Grosu and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.
Grosu underlined the importance of the full use of the potential of interparliamentary cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Latvia. The creation of the Friendship Group with the Republic of Latvia, which will include members of the 11th Parliament, was also discussed.
Grosu said that among the priorities of the Parliament are the reform of the judiciary, the fight against corruption and the consistent continuation of the European path. In this regard, the Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, said that the Republic of Latvia is open to sharing its experience and providing assistance and support. The two officials also exchanged views on modernizing agriculture and approximating legislation in this area.
On the occasion of the meeting with the Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the speaker Igor Grosu thanked the Government of the Republic of Latvia for the support offered to our country in managing the Covid-19 pandemic. In this context, Igor Grosu and Edgars Rinkēvičs discussed the identification of tools to combat manipulation and misinformation in the field of vaccination against Covid-19.
Edgars Rinkēvičs is on an official visit to our country, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu. Hel had another meeting with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.
