Government decides on Moldovan-German agreement on conversion of driver's licences

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, approved a decision on starting negotiations on the draft agreement between the governments of Moldova and Germany on the conversion of driver’s licences.
Under the cabinet decision, decision-makers take note of the draft agreement between the governments of the two countries on the conversion of driver’s licences. Subsequently, the sides start negotiations on the draft of this document.
The need to initiate the concerned agreement was formulated by the German authorities, following more requests of Moldovan citizens who live in Germany.
Under the document, the signatory sides of the agreement will mutually recognize, on the purpose of conversion, the non-provisional and valid driver’s licences. At a request by the authorities, people will have to present a medical specialty certificate, which is to confirm the physical and mental aptitudes.
Also, the holder of the driver’s licence, which is to be converted, will have to pay the internal taxes set by the authorities. At the same time, on the period of the procedures of conversion of the driver’s licences, the competent authorities will take the driver’s licences and will subsequently submit them through diplomatic channels, accompanied by the concerned documentation.
The current decision enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal.
