Ungheni city centre modernized due to EU's financial assistance

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ - The centre of the western Ungheni municipality has turned into a construction site. More infrastructure projects are carried out simultaneously in the city’s centre due to European Union’s financial assistance. The investment, worth 1,375,400 euros, is carried out within the EU4Moldova: Key Regions Programme, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Moldova.
„I am happy that the Ungheni city will become a friendly area for people, a place of attraction both for the Ungheni residents and those who visit the city. We are grateful to the European Union, the EU4Moldova- Key Regions Programme for the support provided in modernizing the Independence Square and rehabilitating the central street. Certainly, from now on, the Ungheni city will have another face, due to this support and the Ungheni residents will have another reason for pride. What is accomplished in Ungheni presently is a telling example of cooperation with the European Union, our reliable partner,’’ the Ungheni mayor, Alexandru Ambros, said.
The EU investment in these projects is of 1,168,546 euros, of the Ungheni city hall – 116, 854 euros and UNDP – 90,000 euros.
