Production of ecologically safe grapes advantageous, welcomed by consumers in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ - The cultivation of vine in greenhouses provides advantages as to the control of air temperature and humidity, as well of better selling prices. In a case of Victor Birnaz from the Chetrosu village, northern Drochia district, who is member of the Employers’ Association Alliance of the Value Chain in the Ecological Agriculture in Moldova (MOVCA), this type of production creates also conditions necessary for getting ecologically safe grapes.
The farmer has an area of 0.93 hectares ecologically certified, divided into three parts, on which vine is cultivated in a greenhouse on 0.23 hectares and on the other area – strawberries and maize in open field.
The vine has been yielding grapes since 2016 and Victor Birnaz presently has about 60 extra-early, early and medium varieties.
At the same time, during several years, he cultivated strawberries among the rows of vine, which he transplanted outside and after the soils rests, he will transplant them back.
MOVCA is an association of producers, processors, traders, consumers, suppliers of inputs and certification organizations from the ecological agriculture system.
