Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - The draft on the amendment of the Article 8 from the Law on the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) was approved in the final reading at a parliament’s plenary meeting today.
The document sees that the CNA director will be appointed to office by the parliament with the votes of the majority of the lawmakers elected, at a proposal by at least 20 MPs, with the positive opinion by the juridical commission for rules and immunities. The mandate of the director of the National Anticorruption Centre will be of five years, without possibility of appointment for a new mandate.
Concomitantly, the draft suggests abrogation of the provisions of selection of candidates on contests basis, organized by the juridical commission for rules and immunities.
In the final reading, the lawmakers accepted an amendment which sees that the recalling from office of the CNA director is made, by majority vote, at a proposal by at least one third of the number of MPs elected, with the positive opinion by the juridical commission for rules and immunities. The draft also describes the cases of recalling.
The draft’s authors say that the approval of the draft law will allow the CNA’s full involvement in the carrying out of the strategy on ensuring the independency and integrity of the justice sector for 2021-2024 and the action plan for its implementation, as well as the exercising of the powers in the combating corruption field.
The legislative initiative was elaborated by a group of lawmakers on behalf of the Action and Solidarity Party.
