Business people from Romania interested in investing in agro-industrial sector of Moldova

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Viorel Gherciu on 24 August had a meeting with a delegation of business people from Romania, representatives of the AGRICOVER Group and Romanian Farmers’ Club for Advanced Agriculture. The goal of the business mission’s visit was to promote business projects and initiatives of social responsibility in agriculture.
The sides discussed possibilities of establishing cooperation relations at the governmental level in the agriculture sector and boosting the communication between producers from both banks of Prut.
In the context, the Romanian side said it was set to promote a model of advanced agriculture and turn to good account the national specific feature through the launch of the Programme, Young Leaders for Agriculture, in Moldova.
“Through the programmne, five scholarships of participation will be provided to faculty graduates, who will take over the family business in agriculture or who will develop their own business in the farming sector. Also, young entrepreneurs will be encouraged to ensure the continuity of the business in agriculture, to get involved in projects of social responsibility and assume the role of leader in their own business and in the rural community,’’ the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) said.
The delegation members also said that, within the programme, young people would benefit probations for training and exchange of experience on diverse dimensions related to agriculture.
