Moldovan parliament speaker meets Head of EU Delegation to Chisinau at end of mandate

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today met Head of the EU Delegation in Chisinau Peter Michalko, who ends his diplomatic mission in Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Igor Grosu thanked the EU Ambassador for the support provided to Moldova in the four years of work. He noted that the European Union remained the key partner for Moldova in the European integration process – a joint strategic goal and a model of edifying the rule of law state, with the development of a strong economy for the well-being of all citizens.
„We are fully involved in the process of implementation of the Association Agreement and well-determined to advance in the sectoral reforms field: building a rule of law state, reforms in the justice sector and combating corruption. These are priority for Moldova’s authorities and we speak out for the continuous enhancement of EU’s role in the process of the country’s modernization and development.’’
The officials also discussed the boosting of the dialogue with the European Union on the Association Agenda. Special emphasis was put on the allocation of 50 million euros – about one billion lei – from the macro-financial assistance package, for which almost all conditions have been fulfilled.
In the end, Igor Grosu wished Ambassador Peter Michalko success in the carrying out his new mandate, opting for a sustainable partnership in continuation.
