Transylvania library from Moldovan capital marks thirty years of community contribution

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ - The B.P. Hasdeu Municipal Library from Chisinau marks the anniversary of the first library of Romanian books from the Moldovan capital, titled, Library Transylvania: Thirty Years of Community Contribution. The anniversary today was marked nearby the Library and will continue on 1-2 September at 10:00, at the headquarters of the institution on the Mircea cel Batran Boulevard 7.  

The anniversary’s celebration is organized under the aegis of the Culture Department of the Chisinau city hall, in partnership with the praetor’s office of the Chisinau’s Ciocana district and the Octavian Goga County Library from Cluj, Romania. At the same time, the event is backed by the Guguta Municipal Theatre and other institutions.   

According to the director of the Transylvania Library, Parascovia Onciu, the institution was set up due the support provided by the Octavian Goga County Library from Cluj and personalities of the Transylvanian cultural association. The founders experienced the moment of inauguration of a Romanian book library in Chisinau 30 years ago on 29 August 1991.    

The collections of books and services provided to the community are organized according to the European and international norms at the Transylvania Library. The library’s books’ collection has over 67,000 volumes. The institution is among the most popular in Chisinau, with about 10,500 active users. The library is a place of meeting with native culture personalities, within book launches, sessions of annually organized scientific communications and most diverse cultural, education and cult services, animations.
