National Farmers Federation representatives met new Minister of Agriculture

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/- Representatives of the National Federation of Farmers met with new Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry and called for creation of an Agricultural Credit Guarantee Fund and increase in subsidy fund.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gherciu met yesterday with representatives of the above-mentioned Federation, and discussed opportunities and challenges of the agricultural sector in the Republic of Moldova.

According to the information presented, the representatives of the National Federation of Farmers stressed the need to create the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Fund and increase the subsidy fund, with increased emphasis on supporting young, small farmers and women farmers. At the same time, they appreciated the fact that many of the objectives of the federation are found in the Government Program, in the fields related to the agricultural sector.

At the same time, the Federation representatives mentioned the need to improve the fiscal policy on the entire value chain, but also to promote the consumption of local products, the export of Moldovan products, by creating an electronic platform with information about local products, their quantity and certification.

Gherciu said that all the proposals of the Federation will be examined, and depending on their relevance they will be reflected in the Government Action Plan and in the strategic policy documents of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
