Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Ives Le Drian, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials reviewed the actions launched following a discussion between the Moldovan head of state and President Emmanuel Macron in Paris in last February, as well as the progress made meanwhile.
„I welcomed the decision on the financing by the French Development Agency (AFD) of infrastructure projects in Moldova. We also discussed the decision to back the National Integrity Authority. At the same time, I voiced hope that we will be able to speed up the signing of important agreements for our citizens – on the avoidance of double taxation and on social protection – and that we will be able to boost the commercial relations,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state thanked France for the support provided to Moldova in the process of domestic reforms, as well as in the dialogue with the European Union, the Presidency of which Paris will take over on 1 January 2022. ‘’We also benefited from the presence of the high-ranking official, in order to convey to President Emmanuel Macron the invitation to visit Moldova,’’ Maia Sandu said.
