Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office conducting searches at Sculeni customs

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/- The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, with the support of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of Interior is currently conducting simultaneous searches in the service offices of several employees of the Border Police at the Sculeni customs. Five people have been detained.

According to prosecutors, the raids take place in a case initiated on active corruption, passive corruption and influence peddling.

The criminal investigation documented the illegal activity of several employees of the Border Police who, from the spring of this year until now, have allegedly received and received amounts between 50 and 700 euros from several passenger carriers and parcels. In exchange for these sums, the border guards would have favored the passage of vehicles without having checks.

So far, anti-corruption prosecutors have detained 5 people, including 4 Border Police employees and a passenger and parcel carrier.
