Chisinau city hall demands coordinating management of pandemic situation with Health Ministry

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/ - The pandemic situation in the Chisinau city is worsening and the rate of infections fits into the red code of epidemic alert in the capital.
The city hall informed that an online meeting of the extraordinary municipal public health commission (CESPC) was convened today. The participants in the event presented the current situation as to the pandemic evolution through the COVID-19 infection in the capital and its suburbs.
According to representatives of the Chisinau-based Public Health Centre, the pandemic situation through the new-type coronavirus is worsening and the incidence of infections fits into the red code of epidemic alert in the Moldovan capital.
On 2 September, 175 new cases of infection with COVID-19 were registered, which is the largest number of infections in this season.
The acting head of the social assistance and health general department, Boris Galca, the CESPC secretary specified that the Chisinau COVID-19 department from the Moldexpo International Exhibition Centre, managed by the Holy Trinity hospital, for the time being coped with the increased number of hospitalizations and the city hall was ready to work for the activation of other municipal hospitals too.
At the same time, the Commission tackled the issue on the testing of the non-vaccinated employees from the education system. The participants in the meeting established that teams of physicians would go to schools, in order to communicate with teachers and the non-didactic staff, as well as to give them possibility to be vaccinated just at the working place. Presently, 80 per cent of the teachers from the Chisinau-based education institutions are immunized.
At the first stage, the Chisinau city hall will allocate financial sources for the testing of teachers, if necessary. Also, the participants in the meeting discussed possibility of enjoying quick Antigen tests from assistance provided by the Romanian government, by partners or economic agents.
In the context, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, said that, under the Labour Code, there is no legal ground for the sanctioning, in one form or another, of employees who are not vaccinated.
Ceban demanded a repeated meeting with Health Ministry’s representatives, in order to coordinate the subjects on the management of the pandemic situation.
