Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- In May-August, police officers registered more than 4,800 road violations committed by drivers with vehicles registered abroad.
According to the National Inspectorate of Public Security, from today, September 6, until September 30, at all border crossing points, drivers of vehicles with foreign numbers will be checked as strictly as any other driver of a vehicle registered in Moldova.
To avoid duplication of checks and create inconvenience to drivers, the planned actions will be carried out jointly by the INSP and the Border Police.
Drivers who have previously committed violations and unpaid fines will have the opportunity to pay them on the spot, at bank branches in the territory of the crossing points. The procedure for documenting a contravention will only take a few minutes.
INSP requires drivers of vehicles registered in other states to check preventively if they have not registered violations at the traffic surveillance cameras. In this regard, they can contact any patrol crew and will be immediately checked in the database.
The institution announces that the purpose of the action is to discourage drivers from evading the payment of fines.
