Moldovan cabinet approves indexation of pensions by 3.86%, increase of minimum pension up to 2,000 lei

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/- The Cabinet of Ministers approved at today's meeting increase of minimum pension for the age limit to 2,000 lei and the indexation of pensions by 3.86% from 1 October this year, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, starting with October 1, 2021, a number of 183 thousand pensioners with full contribution period, who received less than 2,000 lei, will receive a minimum pension of 2,000 lei per month. Currently, the minimum pension is 1188.05 lei. On average, the pension will increase by 366 lei for people with a full contribution period and who have so far had a pension of less than 2000 lei. At the same time, 125 thousand people with an incomplete contribution period will benefit from an increase of the pension by an average of 398 lei. The allowances for 84 thousand beneficiaries of social allowances, the amount of which depends on the value of the minimum pension will increase, on average by 450 lei.
The cost of increasing pensions is 521 million lei in 2021. In 2022, the estimated cost of this increase will be 2.1 billion lei.
The increase in pensions is covered by the national budget.
