Chisinau mayor meets new leadership of interior ministry

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau city hall and interior ministry will set up a working group to streamline traffic in Chisinau.
Mayor Ion Ceban and Interior Minister Ana Revenco held a joint meeting dedicated to streamlining traffic in Chisinau.
Revenco said that the Ministry of Interior is ready to deploy, as before, INSP crews at the busiest intersections, especially during rush hours, but we are waiting for the mayor's office to be appointed to organize and traffic monitoring ”. The official noted that "under normal conditions, traffic flow is the responsibility of the mayor's office and it needs to be improved with traffic lights - preferably smart, with modern traffic management programs, with a well-defined traffic flow plan, with signs and visible and well-maintained road markings ".
At the same time, Ceban said that the road infrastructure of Chisinau municipality is expected for a number of only 90 thousand cars. "It is no secret that the streets in Chisinau were provided for a capacity of 90 thousand cars. Today, however, we have over 230,000 cars registered in Chisinau. In total, the city is crossed by over 400,000 cars. We must all come together and look for solutions ", the quoted source said.
During the press statements, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior Serghei Diaconu said that the joint working group will analyze all possible solutions, and then the further actions will be presented.
"We propose in the technical group to discuss how they can be used to the maximum those responsibilities that the mayor's office has by law and how we come up with intelligent solutions both locally and nationally. We are thinking of initiatives that are being implemented in European capitals, such as 30 km / h for the historic center of the city. It would be one of the solutions we want to analyze and discuss in more detail ", said Diaconu.
Ceban said that the Chisinau municipality insisted on the possible appearance of the community police but that this is to be discussed at the central level. "We will see what we can improve and how we can do it, I hope that in a month we will have some implemented solutions. We also discussed the possibility of creating a community police and the mayor's office insists on this, we will see the debates that will be at the central level ", said Ceban.
