Modernization of national energy system discussed at MIDR

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/- Possibilities for efficiency and modernization of the national energy system were examined yesterday by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development and World Bank team, led by energy manager for Europe and Central Asia Sudeshna Banerjee.
Energy projects implemented with the support of the World Bank were reviewed. The parties referred to the Moldovan Energy System Development Project (PDSE), which aims to increase capacity and improve the reliability of the electricity transmission system, by building a 400 kV OHL with a single circuit in the direction of Vulcanesti-Chisinau.
Also, aspects of the preparation of the 2nd stage of the project to improve the efficiency of the Centralized Thermal Energy Supply System (SACET II) in Chisinau were addressed.
Spinu said that modernizing energy infrastructure, improving energy efficiency, using renewable energy sources and providing consumers with quality, accessible and reliable energy resources are priorities of the work agenda of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
The official noted that integration into the European energy market is another major goal for the Chisinau government.
The representatives of the World Bank referred to the support and technical assistance provided during the years of the Republic of Moldova, expressing, at the same time, the appreciation for the complex agenda of priorities established in the energy field by the new Executive.
