Joint delegation of UEFA, FMF visited Moldovan parliament

Chisinau, 22 September /MOLDPRES/- A meeting of UEFA delegation and Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) with representatives of the legislative forum in Chisinau took place in Parliament, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The event was chaired by speaker Igor Grosu. The meeting was attended by head of the Committee on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport and Media Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, the President of the FMF, Leonid Oleinicenco, the President of UEFA, Aleksander Čeferin and other members of the UEFA Executive Committee, representatives of the FMF.

Igor Grosu welcomed for the first time the visit of the UEFA delegation in such a composition to the Republic of Moldova, expressing confidence that through joint efforts of the Parliament and the Football Federation of Moldova, with the support of UEFA, our country will benefit from sustainable development and sustainable use of this sport.

“We are open to effective collaboration in order to identify good practices to improve the legal framework of sports in Moldova and especially football. In this sense, the zero priority of the current Parliament is the reform of justice and the fight against corruption, or these reforms will ensure the guarantee of people who invest in sports infrastructure, as well as in other important areas ", said the speaker.

In this context, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei addressed the representatives of football, emphasizing the need for democracy and transparency in the entities, so that they enjoy qualitative changes.

FMF President Leonid Oleinicenco said that the implementation of the National Football Development Strategy is essential to increase the quality of sport in the Republic of Moldova. "Studies show that investments in football could be highly profitable in all areas. That is why football must be seen as an industry, a part of our country's economy ", said the FMF president.

For his part, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin assured that the Republic of Moldova will continue to benefit from external support in the field of football, especially the necessary technical assistance. He also highly appreciated the involvement of the authorities in promoting a common goal of developing this sport.

At the end, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin was awarded the distinction of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Medal of Democracy for promotion and development of sports.
