General Prosecutor's Office submitted special appeal to Venice Commission

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/ -The General Prosecutor's Office announced today that in addition to the materials previously submitted to the international forum, at the request of the Venice Commission, a new special appeal was sent to formulate an opinion on the compatibility of legislative amendments to the Law on Prosecutor's Office.

The Prosecutor's Office also requests the Venice Commission to express its opinion and to transmit to the Moldovan authorities its considerations, including the admissibility of the participation, as a full member, of the Prosecutor General in a body such as the Supreme Council. PG announces that in addition to the legislative acts concerned, the two notifications registered with the Constitutional Court were attached to the address to the Venice Commission.

On August 24, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova approved in the final reading amendments to the Law on Prosecutor's Office.
