Moldovan parliament adopted new railway code

Chisinau, 23 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan Railway will be able to be managed, in part, by private operators. The draft of the new Railway Transport Code and the one on the creation of the Railway Authority were voted on today in Parliament's first reading.

The new code was developed by the Government.

According to the authors of the document, its implementation will eliminate the monopoly of the State Enterprise Moldovan Railway on the railway services market. Thus, the railway infrastructure will continue to belong to the state, and the services of traction, passenger transport and freight will be able to be provided by private operators.

The code would enter into force on the expiry of the period of 24 months from the date of publication.

Also today, the deputies made changes in the Law on the regulation by authorization of the entrepreneurial activity and in the Law on state control over the entrepreneurial activity.
